CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Just a week after conducting his first City Council meeting, today Mayor Brandon Johnson will preside over another one. It was called to take care of some unfinished business and more.

Last week, some aldermen used a procedural maneuver to delay a vote on spending an additional $51 million for aid to migrants. The delay lasts only until the next scheduled meeting, and this is it.

Also on the agenda, Council will vote on making permanent the City’s expanded outdoor dining program created during the pandemic.

City Transportation Commissioner Gia Biagi said  it will allow restaurants to use the curb lane for customers and give alderpersons a say.

“Aldermen will be able to object, comment, help us make an application better. And,  if complaints are received for a particular location, that will be considered, and we’ll work together to make sure we’re getting it right,” Biagi said.

That measure passed easily out of committee Tuesday.
