CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Being successful while being sustainable, Chicago businesses are being told they can do both.
Rob Majteles is a board member with Mach49 based in California, which works with businesses on venture building, investing, and sustainability.
“You either are choosing to embrace climate and sustainability growth initiatives or you’re choosing to go out of business…there are enormous profits to be made in serving climate and sustainable opportunities."
He told WBBM Chicago businesses should be at the forefront of the emerging green economy.
"I would love to see Chicago take as much pride in its climate and sustainability initiatives as it does 'Da Bears', right? I would love to see Chicago lead the way here because cities, increasingly, are going to set the pace for the rest of the nation and the rest of the world," Majteles said.
He said Chicago businesses have so much "green potential" in their future.
"How they permit, how they license, how they train workers to become the electricians of the future, the tradesman of the future, how they support green jobs, green initiatives, There is enormous opportunity for great cities like Chicago with a huge tradition of civic pride to make climate and sustainability a pillar of (that) civic pride," Majteles said.
