Chicago couple held without bail in murder of 2-year-old girl

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSARDIO) — A Chicago couple charged with the child-abuse murder of a 2-year-old girl is ordered held without bail.

In court, the mother's boyfriend, Wilfredo Cruz, according to a report in the Chicago Tribune, admitted to hitting Allison Ardon with a belt multiple times in their basement apartment and dressing her in long-sleeved shirts and pants to cover her many bruises.

An autopsy found wounds in various stages of healing, with the fatal injury, a ruptured stomach, caused by blunt force trauma such as a punch to gut.

Cruz and the child's mother, 24-year-old Milixen Ardon, admitted they'd never ever taken Allison to a doctor not until they found her unresponsive last Tuesday, the day she died.
