(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Chicagoans are getting ready for an emergence of cicadas, and one local entrepreneur hopes you'll dress for the occasion.
Anthony Hall, owner of Harebrained Design in Chicago, has put together a T-shirt design for the pending swarm of periodical cicadas. It depicts a sort of old-school college mascot for the fictional “Chicago Cicadas,” with a muscular Cicada shouting into a megaphone.
“I have a slight obsession with vintage collegiate mascots,” Hall tells WBBM Newsradio. “So, I love doing one of these takes on that style, and I thought that the cicada would be a perfect mascot.”
Experts say two periodical cicada broods, which haven't emerged simultaneously in more than 220 years, will rise from the ground in parts of the U.S. as early as this month.
Billions are expected to make an incredible racket.
If there were a Chicago Cicadas team, Hall said, “They would have the loudest fans, for sure.”
