In 2015, Abdullah Motiwala was just out of college and had worked for a year in the pharmaceutical industry when he had an idea that was actually born of something he didn’t like: honey.
“What started with not liking honey became more so a passion because I was looking to make honey palatable for those who don’t enjoy honey’s original flavor,” he tells WBBM Newsradio’s Mike Krauser.
So, he started Heaven’s Honey Inc., which creates surprising new ways to enjoy the natural product.
“I love experiencing new flavors, and I thought maybe there’s an opportunity to create something that hasn’t been created,” Motiwala said.
The flavors his company produces include lemon, cinnamon, habanero, mango, orange, strawberry and hickory-smoked, among others.
The honey is locally sourced and all natural. Motiwala formed a coop with local farmers. The products are in grocery stores and are used by some of the area’s top chefs.
