'Insane': Chicago experiences especially mild Christmas Day weather

(WBBM NEWSRADIO) – Chicago could not catch a break Monday, as far as a white Christmas is concerned. But locals and visitors alike were appreciative of the warmer temperatures.

"We're here from Minneapolis, Minnesota, so this is like insane weather right now," said Tyree Burks. He and his family were dressed in pajamas as they walked in the Loop.

Temperatures were expected to hit the high 50s Monday. Rather than snow, the Chicago region was expected to get rain.

The reprieve from bitter cold will last toward the end of the week. But on Thursday temperatures are expected to dip into the 30s. Snow is possible.
