Fans are paying their respects to Dolly Parton at a mural on Chicago’s north side the day after the country superstar died at the age of 80.
Joseph Blustein lit a candle and placed it in front of a mural of a young Dolly on Broadway near Bryn Mawr in Edgewater.
Among the other candles and bouquets of flowers was a hand-written note from an 8-year-old girl named Corinne that included a photo of her dressed up like Dolly for Halloween in a blonde wig, small guitar and coat of many colors.
Cathy from south suburban Justice admired Dolly for her giving spirit after such humble beginnings.
She says her great granddaughter has received free books through Parton’s Imagination Library.
Sara Parson-Lobner told WBBM she’s been listening to Dolly’s music since learning of her death on Tuesday and finds her voice on “I Will Always Love You” to be angelic.
Parson-Lobner’s mother admired Dolly’s spunk and how she would let people know if they crossed her while still exuding love.
