
CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - The last remaining defendants in an international drug trafficking investigation have been found guilty by a federal jury in Chicago.
The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Illinois said between May 2016 and August 2017, 47-year-old Juan Manuel Barenas-Reynoso, of Chicago, 42-year-old Antonio Carrazco-Martinez, of Georgia, and 30-year-old Nicolasa Benitez Denova, of Texas conspired with others to traffic cocaine and heroin from Mexico to the Chicago area.
Carrazco-Martinez was alleged to have been the leader of the group’s Chicago operations. They were all found guilty of various charges.
Throughout the multi-year investigation, an additional ten defendants were charged. They were from Chicago, Bolingbrook, Michigan, Texas, California, and Mexico.
