CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - With snow in the forecast and frigid temperatures already here, the City of Chicago is stepping up efforts to keep migrants warm.

The City said it will post CTA warming buses outside 16 police stations and the arrival point for migrants coming to Chicago from Texas and the cities of San Antonio, New York and Denver.

In an update, Mayor Brandon Johnson's office called this an increasingly critical point and said the city is working with nonprofits, volunteers and other groups to provide new arrivals and homeless Chicagoans with blankets, coats and crucial supplies.

As for shelter, the city is working with religious leaders as well exploring all options for temporary sites in the city and state.
