CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A small, but spirited, group of demonstrators gathered outside of the Louis Vuitton store on Michigan Avenue in Chicago Sunday to protest the company's use of animal fur in its clothing.

“We are protesting Louis Vuitton because they are one of the very few chain stores left in our country that still sell fur coats,” said protester Brandon Bradley.

Over the past three years, Bradley said, nearly a dozen clothing chains with stores in the Chicagoland area have announced plans to go fur-free.

Christina Leon, another protester, called the use of animal fur a “bloody trade.”

“A lot of animals are put through suffering just [for] fur,” Leon said. “It’s their skin.”

The demonstrators wrote chalk messages on the sidewalk outside of the Magnificent Mile storefront.

One message read: “Animal abusers.”
