CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A Chicago man is facing several felony charges over a weekend shooting that wounded two people, as well as a crash that injured nine people — including some Chicago police officers .
Anthony Evans, 25, was arrested Saturday afternoon shortly after police said a man and woman were struck in a drive-by shooting in the 7100 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue.
Chicago police said Evans fled the scene in a vehicle, which later struck a Chicago police vehicle in the 5400 block of South State Street. The crash injured four Chicago police officers and five other people.
Evans was arrested after the crash, along with three other suspects.
Among the charges: unlawful use of a weapon, aggravated battery and discharge of a firearm, as well as aggravated DUI in an accident which caused bodily harm.
State Rep. Angelica Guerrero-Cuellar confirmed to WBBM that her was husband was one of the Chicago police officers involved in the crash.
