CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - The fate over the estate of a mysteriously-wealthy Chicago man remains in limbo.

Joseph Stancak of Chicago’s Southwest Side died in 2016 at the age of 87, and, much to people’s surprise, left behind $11 million.

The Chicago Sun-Times reported was a recluse, no one was quite sure what he did for a living and left no immediate family. Thus, his $11 million estate was the largest unclaimed estate in the nation’s history. Eventually, 119 distant relatives were located across the globe, but, then, a will did pop up years after his death, saying all the money was left to Smart Kids Child Care Inc. and that company’s president.

Now, there are accusations that the will is a fraud, and the lawyer in the case died in a plane crash.

The $11 million of Chicago’s mysterious millionaire hasn’t gone to anyone.
