(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — The Republican vice-presidential nominee started something of a war of words with Mayor Brandon Johnson and his predecessor.
It was this comment from JD Vance that provoked a response.
“It's almost a joke to me that they held it in Chicago, which has become the murder capital of the United States of America.”
Vance went on to say his theory about why the convention was held in Chicago was so that the Vice Presidential nominee Tim Walz could accurately say that he’s been to a combat zone.
“The Republican Party is about as needed or as useful as a hotel key card after check-out,”
Mayor Brandon Johnson said on CNN.
He noted homicides are down double digits since he took office.
Former mayor Lori Lightfoot also responded, writing on X, “A nice thing about not being mayor anymore is I don’t care who hears me tell this clown to STFU.”
