Chicago officials are reminding residents and visitors to stay safe on the water this summer.
The Office of Emergency Management and Communications held a summer safety and water demonstration at Navy Pier to highlight the importance of preparedness.
Tips include wearing a life jacket, swimming near a lifeguard and learning CPR.
"Every year we have 30 to 40 water responses where victims are removed from the water in multiple conditions," said Chicago Fire Department Deputy District Chief Jason Lach.
OEMC will issue any alerts and notifications needed to keep residents and attendees up to date on weather conditions and emergencies.
