A man has been killed, Chicago police said, after he was shot near the entrance doors of the CTA's 79th Street station.
Chicago police officers were called to the scene of the shooting around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.
A Chicago Fire Department spokesman confirmed it transported a man, 46, to the University of Chicago Medical Center in extremely critical condition.
Chicago police said the victim was pronounced dead at the hospital.
There are no offenders in custody at this time, Chicago police said, and area detectives are investigating.
