CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A Hillside man is suspected of being involved in hundreds of break-ins in Chicago.
Chicago Police Superintendent David Brown said the arrest of the alleged prolific burglar shows that police are working hard to solve these crimes.
24-year-old Dion Butts was part of a crew that may have committed 200 smash-and-grab burglaries, according to police.
He is charged in 10 cases, so far, between November and February, including two burglaries targeting the Burberry store on Michigan Avenue.
Police Superintendent David Brown said $180,000 in merchandise and cash was taken altogether.
“The arrest is a clear signal to other offenders that the Chicago Police Department will be relentless in finding and arresting you,” said Brown.
Prosecutors said Police found Facebook video footage of Butts admitting to committing burglaries.
It is also alleged that he identified himself on security video during a jewelry store burglary.
About a month ago the alleged “ringleader" of the crew was arrested.
