Chicago police officers fired their pistols at a charging dog but missed early Friday in Roseland on the Far South Side, according to police.

Officers were called for a well-being check around 3:15 a.m. in the 12000 block of South Eggleston Avenue, police said in a statement.

When officers arrived a dog charged towards both officers, police said. Both officers fired their service weapons in the dog’s direction but the dog was not struck, police said.

The dog’s owner then secured the animal inside the home, police said. Police did not say why officers were called in the first place. No other injuries were reported.
