Applications encouraged as city prepares to fill civilian police oversight panel

(WBBM NEWSRADIO) – Chicagoans are being encouraged to apply for seats on the civilian panel that will have a major influence on the city’s police operations.

Sam Schoenburg, a member of the 19th Police District Council, is encouraging peple to apply for permanent positions with the Community Commission for Public Safety and Accountability.

A nominating committee will give Mayor Brandon Johnson 14 names, from which the mayor will pick seven.

There are requirements. Some commission members should be lawyers, community activists or younger people, and they must be willing to work hard for little pay.
