The U-S Attorney’s Office in Chicago is reportedly investigating E. Jean Carroll, the woman who took President Trump to court over claims of sexual assault.
Sources say the investigation started earlier this year over whether Carroll committed perjury in a deposition in 2022, when she said she received no outside funding for her case against President Trump.
It later surfaced that LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman had contributed money for her legal fees.
Juries have awarded Carroll $88M in damages after finding Trump liable for sexually abusing and defaming her.
He has appealed.
The investigation by US Attorney Andrew Boutros comes as his office is making reforms to the grand jury process after several high-profile cases recently have been dismissed over allegations of prosecutorial misconduct.
