CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - New Illinois testing data reveals that Chicago public elementary school students are making gains in reading and math.
The Results are from the spring Illinois Assessment of Readiness exam. that was taken by third to eighth graders.
Taken by grades three through eight, CPS said students made the greatest gains in language arts, with a five percentage point increase from last year.
Black students drove these gains, achieving a six percentage point increase over last year.
Students also posted an increase of two percentage points in math between spring 2023 and spring 2024.
