CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A Chicago Ridge teenager was surprised with a new ride Sunday.
Eighteen-year-old Jacob Watson has a rare blood disease that's burdened him with intense surgeries and treatment programs over the past few years.
As a car enthusiast, Jacob had always dreamed of fixing up his grandfather's Ford F-250. His community helped make his dream a reality and Jacob was surprised with his new wheels at a reveal parade.
"It's just all absolutely amazing and a lot of love and support from people. I'm just absolutely overwhelmed," Jacob's uncle, Matt Watson told WBBM Newsradio.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Illinois created a team of local first responders and business leaders who gave Jacob's truck a makeover.
"The fact that the truck came from his grandfather who couldn't be with us today and he was in shock and all he had no idea that it was a parade coming,” Watsons continued.
