The former lawyer of a Chicago real estate scammer is going up against big banks.

Rufus Cook wants to hold on to the condo buildings he received his payment from convicted scammer Robert Anthony Bryant. Bryant served prison time for a scheme involving tax delinquent real estate.

The real deal publication reports both Cook and Brian have filed a federal lawsuit against HSBC Bank, Bank of America, Citi and a Cook County judge.

The suit claims the banks and other defendants have no right to foreclose on its properties because they fail to keep adequate mortgage records.
