(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Now that the White Sox are out of the postseason, the hottest ticket in town appears to be the Chicago Sky as they head to the WNBA Finals this weekend.
“We're seeing as many sales per game for the finals as we did for the entire season,” said Adam Budelli, head of partnerships at StubHub. “Without a doubt, fans are really showing up and supporting the team in their run for the championship.”
Not only is there an unprecedented number of tickets being sold, but ticket prices themselves show the magnitude of the game.
“The average ticket price for this game is going to be just under $100,” Budelli said Thursday. “Typically, based on the demand for a traditional game, we'd be closer in the $40 to $50 range.”
But don’t be fooled. Premium tickets like courtside seats range anywhere from $1,000 to $3,000 — and they’re going fast.
With the Chicago Sky and Phoenix Mercury all tied up heading into games 3 and 4 this weekend, Budelli tells WBBM Newsradio he wouldn’t be surprised if prices continue to climb.
