The Finish Line! Chicago Runner Makes History, Unites A City

There was a celebration in Grant Park, near Buckingham Fountain, late Sunday morning for a man who just completed his quest to run every street of Chicago, a run of about five-thousand miles.

Joabe Barbosa started his historic quest a couple of years ago to run every Chicago street, and he became a celebrity along the way, even recording videos with Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson.

Now, he has completed his journey, joined by hundreds of other runners and well-wishers for the final leg of the run ending at Buckingham Fountain. One runner dressed as a dinosaur, and another in a Spider-Man costume, were among those who joined Barbosa for his historic finish.

Barbosa, surrounded by his sweaty supporters, many of them draped in Chicago flags, told WBBM, "as I kept going, as I kept running, I just saw how nice people were and so I just started the message of positivity trying to show how every single neighborhood in Chicago deserves respect."

Barbosa, who is originally from Brazil and grew up in London, has had some Visa issues, but, thanks to his school, Roosevelt University, he has that all straightened out and will be here in Chicago for at least another year.

Barbosa, with a smile on his face surrounded by friends and supporters in the shadow of Buckingham Fountain said, "I don't like running! You're never going to find me running ever again!"
