LODI, WIS. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A Chicago teenager died Tuesday evening after going underwater at Smokey Hollow Campground in Lodi, which is about 30 miles north of Madison, Wis.
According to the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, the 15-year-old had gone underwater in the swimming pond around 5:45 p.m. and had not come back up.
The teen was found about 50 minutes after going underwater and was brought to a local hospital, but later died.
The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office extended its thoughts and prayers to the family.
The teen’s name has not yet been released.
The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Lodi Fire Department, Lodi EMS, Waunakee EMS, the Columbia County Dive Team and the Columbia County Medical Examiner’s Office.
