(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- An annual celebration of Chicago's theater scene kicks off next week.
Chicago Theatre Week runs Feb. 8-18. The 12th annual event invites people to purchase discounted tickets to shows at 78 participating theaters.
Like the Chicago Restaurant Week, theater week is designed to entice people to see a show during a slow time of the year, says Marissa Lynn Jones, executive director of the League of Chicago Theaters.
“It’s really about making sure that our artists and our stages can continue to be supported, especially in this down time,” she told the Noon Business Hour.
She said Chicago theaters are still recovering from the COVID shutdowns of nearly four years ago.
