Chicago Theological Seminary Leaving University of Chicago Campus
Chicago Theological Seminary

Changes are coming for a longtime Chicago school that has been in business for nearly as long as Chicago itself.

Chicago Theological Seminary, which counts the late Jesse Jackson among its graduates, has been around since 1855.

Since 2012, the Seminary has occupied the University of Chicago-owned building at 1407 East 60th Street but, in a news release issued on Thursday, Chicago Theological Seminary and the University of Chicago say they have agreed to conclude the lease arrangement.

Chicago Theological Seminary says it will welcome its continuing students this fall and celebrate another graduating class in spring of 2027.

The Seminary will announce its future plans in the coming months.
