(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Chicago health officials are sharing their plans for vaccinating migrants being sheltered in the city, now that federal officials have approved the latest COVID vaccine.
Geraldine Luna with the Chicago Department of Public Health said viewing the new vaccine rollout through an equity lens is a priority for the department. That means providing access to the asylum seekers who have been arriving here by the thousands.
One strategy will be to go to non-traditional shelters, like police stations and other temporary housing locations, with advocates who speak their language, Luna said.
The vaccine is available to all Chicagoans, ages 6 months and up, regardless of insurance or immigration status, she said.
