A Chicago area sports team is making some history before their new season even begins.

There was plenty of reason to celebrate here at Harry Caray’s Restaurant, where the Chicago Wolves announced close to 50 different local organizations will receive a combined 3 million dollars in donations during the upcoming American Hockey League season.
“We believe that sports teams should be more than a place for people to go. They should be a place for people to feel comfortable and to feel a part of.”

Wolves Chairman Don Levin says it’s one of the largest, single season donations in Chicago sports history.
Among the groups on the receiving end: Bernie’s Book Bank, Honor Flight Chicago, Ronald McDonald House and A Silver Lining Foundation, founded and led by Dr. Sandy Goldberg.
“This one event will provide 1,000 women and men, who can get breast cancer too, to a test that can potentially save their life.”
