(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A Mount Prospect woman is among the first wave of people to get free at-home COVID tests mailed from the federal government.

Licia Aspromonte signed up for tests last Tuesday, when the public website had its "soft opening." After a few emails from the US Postal Service, she had four Roche-brand tests in her mailbox on Monday.

Aspromonte took to Facebook to share the news.

“I wanted people to know they’re coming. In case anybody’s struggling to try and find them or buy them or whatever it gives them a little bit of hope,” she told WBBM Newsradio.

She said she ordered the at-home test kits in case she or her husband needs to test before spending time with their immunocompromised grandson.

Aspromonte notes that she seems to have the golden touch when it comes to getting her hands on COVID tests. She has succeeded in buying them from retailers at a time when they’re scarce.
