CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — The Jean Banchet Awards, which highlight excellence in Chicago’s restaurant scene, have released the nominees for its 2025 awards.
The awards are akin to the James Beard Awards but focus solely on restaurants, chefs, bars and sommeliers in Chicago.
For the first time in its more than 20-year history of celebrating the city’s top culinary talents, the Jean Banchet Awards have added a pizza category. The nominees for the inaugural award are Pistores, Milly’s Pizza in the Pan, Spacca Napoli and Robert’s Pizza and Dough.
Nominees for Best Restaurant include Avec, El Che, Elske and Rose Mary.
The nominees are decided upon by an anonymous panel of journalists, experts and members — who focus on 13 categories.
The winners will be announced on Jan. 26, 2025.
