(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Most folks know the iconic Radio Flyer red wagons, trikes and bikes. Now, the Chicago-based company is setting up shop at Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg.
“They’re opening their first store at the Woodfield Mall in November,” said Ally Marotti, a restaurants and retail reporter at Crain’s Chicago Business.
Marotti joined the WBBM Noon Business Hour with details of Radio Flyer’s first ever brick-and-mortar store in its 106-year history.
“It’s a service center, and there’s also places where you can customize things,” Marotti said. “If you buy a wagon for somebody’s baby shower, you can put their kid’s name on there or whatever it may be. It’s really one of these very experiential situations, which we’re seeing a lot more in retail these days.”
Marotti added that the company is betting big on e-bikes.
“The e-bikes are really the impetus for opening the store, so that people can come in [and] try them out,” she said. “The store will be big enough that they can test ride them out into the parking lot.”
