Child dies in NW suburbs after being hit by car, police say

A child was fatally struck by a vehicle Monday in northwest suburban Schaumburg, authorities said.

The child, whose age wasn’t known, was struck near the intersection of Algonquin Road and Thoreau Drive about 5:10 p.m., Schaumburg police said.

The child was taken to a nearby hospital and pronounced dead, police said.

The details leading up to the incident were not immediately known.

The incident is under investigation.
