FOX LAKE (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A child was seriously injured when a boat caught on fire yesterday on the Chain-O’Lakes.
It happened on Pistakee Lake.
The Fox Lake Fire Protection District reported there were two adults and two children on the boat when the fire broke out near a dock. They jumped into the water, but one of the children, reported to be younger than ten, was seriously burned and was taken to a hospital. The others had minor burns.
The boat was drifting toward others in a marina. The fire department put out the flames.
The boat at least partially sank. It was towed back in.
The cause is under investigation.
