CICERO, Ill. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) --Several dozen Cicero residents packed a meeting of the Board of Trustees Tuesday demanding that the town make infrastructure improvements after devastating flooding a little over a week ago.

Residents gathered outside the Town Hall before the meeting. They shouted “We want Larry out" referring to Larry Dominick, the town President.

A woman who calls herself Q said residents were left on their own.

"The urban flooding is supposed to be something that a town assessor figures out on our behalf and yet haven't had a solution for years," she said.

"During the state of emergency of two hours after we were notified by the phone, The police cannot even close the streets- unclog the drains. My neighbors unclogged it. I unclogged it."

Gerardo Nava is another resident.

"It's very evident from just looking at the alleyways of what people had to throw out," he said. "A lot of people lost a lot of stuff and we could have avoided this."

The town said after the flooding there’s no sewer system that can handle so much rain in such a short period of time.
