CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - The City is well on their way to securing apartments for residents of a large tent encampment located within Humboldt Park.
In a letter to residents, 26th Ward Alderman Jessie Fuentes said in part that within the next 60 to 90 days those connected to housing will transition to either shelter or apartments. Anyone else living in the Humboldt Park tent encampment who did not get connected will receive ongoing outreach for placement.
Housing for the 63 tent residents was secured through an effort that began in late September by the Department of Family and Support Services and its partner agencies.
The City has had a goal of emptying the large tent encampment in Humboldt Park by December.
