CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - The community is mourning the death of a Chicago firefighter, who died Monday while fighting a blaze in Lincoln Park.
Community members joined firefighters at the Engine 55 station in Lincoln Park to remember 39-year-old Andrew "Drew" Price.
Michelle and Phillip Gross were among the community members who showed their support.
They told CBS-2 how grateful they are to the firefighters of their community.
“It runs in our blood, and it’s important to support our community, and right now it’s hurting,” Michelle Gross said.
“These guys are here to serve. Each and every day, they put their lives on the line, and, truth be told, it happened today too,” Phillip Gross said.
Their 7-year-old Anderson Gross showed up in special firefighter attire.
Price died after falling through a roof while responding to a fire near Lincoln and Fullerton.
He had been a part of the fire department for 14 years.
