(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The Chicago City Council’s Finance Committee is recommending the city pay more than $4.25 million to settle cases involving police officers and vehicles.

The biggest case involves $3.25 million for the estate of Martina Standley, who died two years after being knocked down by a police vehicle that was summoned when she had a mental-health episode in 2019.

Deputy Corporation Counsel Maggie Mendenhall Casey said Standley was banging on a police SUV when the officer inside turned his stationary vehicle into her.

Standley was hit and fell, hitting her head and causing severe brain damage. She was never the same and died in 2022.

Other cases involve a settlement of $400,000 for a woman who was injured when a police Segway ran over her foot, and $425,000 for a man injured when his car was hit during a police chase.
