(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Mayor Lori Lightfoot and Chicago Parks Superintendent Rosa Escareno cut the ribbon Friday on a new headquarters for the district.
The complex at 48th and Western in the Brighton Park neighborhood includes a new park and a fieldhouse atop what was once industrial property.
The mayor calls the $69 million redevelopment, which will offer a variety of programming for young people, a “huge investment” in Brighton Park.
"For far too long, Brighton Park families have had to travel to neighboring communities to access essential park resources,” she said. “This project marks a new day for Brighton Park and our city as the headquarters will serve the vitality and well-being of Southwest Side communities.”
