City Winery employee charged with fatally stabbing co-worker

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A man has been charged in the stabbing death of his co-worker at City Winery in the West Loop on Wednesday.

Clarence Johnson, 41, of west suburban Bellwood faces first-degree murder and possession of a controlled substance charges.

Chicago police did not share a motive, but that’s expected today during a detention hearing.

The Cook County Medical Examiner identified the man killed as 47-year-old Francois Reed-Swain of Harvey and ruled his death a homicide from multiple stab wounds.

Both men worked at City Winery, which was preparing to host two events when the stabbing happened Wednesday at around 5 p.m.
