CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- What had been a mass vaccination site outside the United Center is now the site of the city’s first large-scale outdoor music festival since 2019.

The Windy City Smokeout is billed as the nation's premier outdoor country music and BBQ festival features four days of live music from country music's biggest names and up-and-coming talent, plus the best BBQ and craft beer from around the country.

And this year, there will be new rules.

Attendees will have to download the Clear app and complete a daily questionnaire. They’ll also have to show proof of vaccination or upload a negative COVID-19 test within 72-hours of attending.

The Windy City Smokeout is the first major festival in the city in two years.

According to event organizers, more than 15,000 attendees are expected over the weekend. Shows on Friday and Saturday are sold out, but tickets remain available for Thursday and Sunday.
