CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Well I saw the thing comin' out of the sky. It had the one long horn, and one big eye. I commenced to shakin' and I said "Ooh-eee." It looks like a purple people eater to me.
It was a one-eyed, one-horned, flyin' purple people eater. One-eyed, one-horned, flyin' purple people eater. A one-eyed, one-horned, flyin' purple people eater. Sure looks strange to me...
Happy Halloween, Chicago! If you are celebrating in any way, shape, or form you have to try this cocktail.
It's called the Purple People Eater.
Now, it does not have one eye or one horn, but it is purple and sure looks strange to me!
The Purple People Eater recipe calls for vodka, blue cucaçao, sweet and sour mix, grenadine, and cranberry juice.
And if you want, you can add a purple sugar rim to your glass.
So who's ready to mix things up?
Ingredients
• 1.5 parts vodka
• 1 part blue curaçao
• 1 part sweet and sour mix
• 1 part grenadine
• 1 part cranberry juice (Note: you can also use cran-grape or grape juice)
• Purple sugar or sprinkles (optional)
Directions
Optional: If you would like to add a purple sugar rim to your glass, you can dip the rim of your glass in simple syrup and roll it in purple sugar/sprinkles. Then set your glass aside.
1. In a shaker with ice, add vodka, blue curaçao, sweet and sour mix, grenadine, and cranberry juice.
2. Shake well.
3. Pour your Purple People Eater cocktail into your glass. (Note: If using a champagne flute, don't add ice; but if using a wine glass, add ice to your glass before pouring).
4. Enjoy!
