CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — The cocktails-to-go bill is now headed to Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s desk.
This is the bill that would continue to allow restaurants and bars to sell cocktails to go as well as single servings of wine that include takeout and delivery but not third-party delivery services like Grubhub.
The law would have expired on Wednesday. If the governor signs the bill, it would extend cocktails to go until January 2024.
The bill had bipartisan support and it's seen as a way to help bars and restaurants whose businesses took a major hit during the worst of the novel coronavirus pandemic.
Also part of this bill, bars and restaurants can offer a free drink to people who have been vaccinated.
