CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - With the prediction of blizzard conditions this week, ComEd is preparing for possible power outages.

Predicted high winds could take down power lines, and ComEd says it has crews and equipment in place to respond.  The utility reminds you to stay away from any power lines that may have come down.

ComEd’s president says crews will try to restore power as quickly as possible, especially in light of this being a holiday week. You can report any outage by phone, text or app. By phone, call 1-800-EDISON1. You can also text the word “out” to 2-6-6-3-3. Or, you can go to ComEd’s app to report an outage.

When there are power outages, ComEd restores electricity first to hospitals, police and fire stations and nursing homes then to the areas where the most outages are.
