It is Super Bowl Sunday and community leaders want your at-home party experience to be the safest possible.
Community activists and Dolton trustee Andrew Holmes tells CBS 2 don't go to a Super Bowl party with a gun.
"Guns and alcohol's a bad combination," Holmes said.
Holmes says if you are hosting a Super Bowl party to ask your guests not to bring weapons, even if it is their constitutional right to conceal and carry.
"But if you allow these weapons into your house and you are consuming alcohol there with the people that are coming, then you have a right to take their weapons and put it in a lock box and lock it up," he said.
The overall takeaway message from Holmes is that if you're going to a Super Bowl party, bring the wings, bring the beer, but please leave your guns at home.
