Concealed carry license holder wounded in shootout after crashing his car near UIC

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Two men were wounded in a shootout near the University of Illinois-Chicago Wednesday night after a car crash.

Chicago police said it happened at about 9:15 p.m. A 29-year-old man had been in a crash near Harrison and Desplaines Streets and was standing beside his vehicle when three men with guns got out of a black Dodge Charger.

The man exchanged gunfire with them, and they took off leaving him with wounds to his legs.

Police said he is a concealed carry license holder and was taken to Stroger Hospital in good condition. Officers recovered his gun at the scene.

A man showed up at a different hospital with a gunshot wound and was identified as one of the gunmen. He was arrested.

Area Three detectives are investigating.
