Contractor rescued in Orland Park after falling down over 20-foot deep well

ORLAND PARK (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Firefighters had to rescue a contractor Wednesday in Orland Park after he fell down a well.

The man was working in the basement of a home that’s under construction  near 143rd Street and Oakley Avenue when the incident occurred.

He fell into a well that’s 20-to-30 feet deep and couldn’t get out. There was a couple feet of water at the bottom.

Fire Chief Michael Schofield said they set up a tripod over the opening and sent a harness down and pulled the man out.

He was injured but his condition was described as stable.
