ORLAND PARK (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Firefighters had to rescue a contractor Wednesday in Orland Park after he fell down a well.
The man was working in the basement of a home that’s under construction near 143rd Street and Oakley Avenue when the incident occurred.
He fell into a well that’s 20-to-30 feet deep and couldn’t get out. There was a couple feet of water at the bottom.

Fire Chief Michael Schofield said they set up a tripod over the opening and sent a harness down and pulled the man out.
He was injured but his condition was described as stable.
