CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The Cook County Finance Committee will vote later today on a pricey settlement with hundreds of female workers of the county jail.

At the beginning of the month, the number of women involved in the lawsuit against the Cook County jail was over 560.

The lawsuit alleges Sheriff Tom Dart and other leaders failed to stop male detainees from exposing themselves to the workers and threatening them among other things.

The suit describes the work environment for women as sexually hostile and claims the terms and conditions of employment for women were different than for men. A county settlement of $31 million is now up for a vote and if it passes, it will move to the county board and later in the week.
