CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Chicago police were in a shootout with a suspect early this morning on the Far South Side.
When officers responded to shots fired near 131st and Evans shortly before 2 a.m, the department said they encountered an armed person and exchanged gunfire.
Police said the suspect ran off but was quickly arrested. No one was injured, and, police said, they recovered a gun at the scene.
The Civilian Office of Police Accountability (COPA) is investigating the shooting, and the officers involved will be on desk duty for the next 30 days.
This is the third officer-involved shooting so far this month.
