(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Police in East Chicago are investigating an incident that occurred early Saturday morning that left a 21-year-old woman dead.
Police received a call around 1 a.m. about a woman bleeding in the street at Dickey Road and Park Street.
Her boyfriend and numerous others were trying to help her. The boyfriend told police they were on their way home from Chicago.
The couple got into an argument about him wanting to go to a game with his friends. He told police she opened the door and stepped out of the moving car.
He says he stopped immediately.
Police say witnesses of the incident tried to help right away.
The woman had a head injury and was unconscious when police arrived. She later died at a hospital.
Police are calling it a death investigation.
